INTRODUCTION

B.E.S.T Project is a 24-hour, semi-independent provision in West Sussex, offering accommodation with young person focused and trauma-informed support.  Our service is designed to accommodate both male and female looked-after young people between the ages of 16 to 18. We specialise in building long-term and effective relationships with young people; however, we can also offer short stay and emergency placements.

OUR CORE VALUES

Untitled_edited_edited_edited_edited.png

We BELIEVE in young people and redeemability.

We EMPOWER young people’s journey to achieve better lives and outcomes.

We help young people to SUCCEED by supporting them to achieve their goals and become valued members in their local community, as well as making positive contributions to wider society.

We achieve this TOGETHER with young people. They need positive relationships and healthy attachments with adults who believe, empower, and support them to succeed.

OUR AIM

Our aim is to provide a safe, stable and trauma-informed environment to support looked after young people in a semi-independent provision. We promote and aid recovery from trauma and the development of young people’s independence, all in preparation for adulthood. We aim to provide looked after young people with a positive and productive start to their adult lives, by affording them the same opportunities and independent life skills that every young person should be entitled to. When young people leave B.E.S.T Project, they feel confident in their ability to take responsibility for their own lives and leave care successfully.

OUR OBJECTIVES

At B.E.S.T Project all our objectives will be met using a trauma-informed approach.

Provide stable accommodation where young people feel safe, secure and regulated.

Build and maintain positive relationships with young people by being reliable, patient, consistent and transparent, as well as promoting positive familial, social and professional relationships outside the project.

Ensure we provide an environment where young people feel empowered, share and reflect on their experiences and work towards achieving positive outcomes.

Encourage young people to share their wishes and feelings so their voices are heard and become central to all decisions.

Ensure the diverse needs of young people are always considered and responded to appropriately and sensitively.

Prevent any harm (physical, emotional, sexual, neglect) and promote safeguarding of young people by adhering to safety plans, policies and procedures.

Ensure a multi-agency approach by working in partnership with  young people and their support network.

Create individualised strength-based plans with young people and their support network, setting realistic, achievable and timely goals/outcomes that will be reviewed regularly.

Provide support and encourage opportunities for education, training and employment.

Develop young people’s independent living skills in preparation for adulthood such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, managing a tenancy as well as developing positive routines.

Prepare and support young people’s transition to independence, including move-on and post-18 planning.

Provide looked after young people with the same opportunities that all young people are entitled to, so they can become valued and contributory members of society.
